Devotional #3: Do What’s Right - Be The Change

Verse of the Day:

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” – Isaiah 1:17 (NIV)

Devotional:

When you scroll through social media or watch the news, it can be overwhelming to see so much hurt, injustice, and division. You might wonder, What can I even do to make a difference? Isaiah 1:17 reminds us that God’s heart beats for justice—and He’s calling you to act.

This verse isn’t just about being “a good person.” It’s a call to action. God tells His people to learn to do what is right—which means it might not come naturally. It takes growth, intentionality, and courage. He then calls us to:

  • Seek justice – Stand up for what’s fair, not just for yourself but for others.

  • Defend the oppressed – Use your voice to lift up those who are pushed down.

  • Care for the vulnerable – God especially highlights the fatherless and the widow—those often forgotten or left behind.

You don’t need a platform with millions of followers to make an impact. Start small. Speak kindly. Stand up for someone who’s being bullied. Volunteer your time. Pray for the hurting. Be a safe space for your friends.

Jesus Himself lived this out. He went out of His way to love the rejected, restore the broken, and confront injustice. And now, He invites you to do the same—not just in words, but in action.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, teach me to do what is right. Open my eyes to injustice around me. Give me the courage to speak up, to care deeply, and to act boldly. Help me reflect Your love and justice every day. Amen.

Devotional #2 - Let Justice Flow

Verse of the Day:

“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” – Amos 5:24 (NIV)

Devotional:

Imagine a river—powerful, deep, and constantly moving. That’s the image God uses to describe what our lives should look like when it comes to justice and righteousness.

In the book of Amos, God is calling out His people for something that might surprise you: they were doing all the “right” religious things, like singing worship songs, bringing offerings, and gathering at the temple. But their lives didn’t reflect God’s heart. They ignored the poor. They mistreated others. They lived unjustly while pretending to be spiritual.

So God says, “Enough of the performance. What I want is your life to overflow with justice and righteousness.”

Justice means treating people fairly, standing up for those who are hurting, and fighting against systems of oppression or discrimination.
Righteousness means living in right relationship—with God and with others—choosing what is good, pure, and loving.

And God doesn’t want this to be occasional. He wants it to flow—like a river that never stops, like a stream that never dries up.

This verse calls us, especially as young people, to live with a faith that flows into action. Not just Sunday faith, not just Instagram posts about causes, but real-life love in motion. It means:

  • Speaking up when someone is bullied.

  • Being kind even when it’s not cool.

  • Refusing to go along with gossip.

  • Listening to people whose stories are different than ours.

  • Making space at the table for those who feel unseen.

You might think, “But I’m just one person.” True. But rivers are made up of countless drops of water. Your one drop matters. And when we all let justice and righteousness flow from our lives, God’s love floods the world.

Closing Prayer:

God, I don’t want to just go through the motions. Help me live a life that reflects Your heart. Teach me to care about what You care about—justice for the oppressed, love for the hurting, and righteousness in my choices. Let Your Spirit move in me like a mighty river. Let justice and righteousness flow from my life every day. Amen.

Devotional #1 - Where The Spirit Is, Freedom Lives!

Verse of the Day:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

Devotional:

What does freedom really look like?
In a world that constantly pushes us to prove ourselves, to fit in, and to follow trends just to feel accepted, freedom can feel like a fantasy. Social media tells us freedom is doing what you want, when you want. But somehow, even with all that "freedom," many of us still feel trapped — in anxiety, shame, peer pressure, or fear of not being enough.

But God tells us a different story.
This verse from 2 Corinthians reminds us of something powerful: true freedom isn’t found in the world — it’s found in the presence of God. When the Spirit of the Lord is with us, we’re no longer slaves to the lies of this world. We’re no longer defined by our past mistakes, our appearance, our grades, or our social status.

Freedom in the Spirit means:

  • You don’t have to wear a mask to be loved — God knows the real you and still calls you His.

  • You’re free from guilt and shame — because Jesus already paid the price.

  • You don’t have to strive to earn your worth — God has already chosen you.

  • You can walk boldly in your purpose — because the Spirit gives you strength and direction.

You’re not stuck. You’re not hopeless.
The Spirit of God lives in you. And with Him, you are free — to live, to grow, to love, to fail, and to rise again.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, thank You for giving me freedom through Your Spirit. Help me to recognize the areas where I’ve been living in fear, shame, or pressure. I invite Your Spirit into my life fully — to lead me, guide me, and set me free. I don’t want to be defined by the world, but by You. Teach me how to walk in the freedom You’ve already given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
